ERP Price Singapore 2026: Rates, Cost & Monthly Calculator
There is no single ERP price in Singapore. The charge depends on the charging point, vehicle type and the time you pass it. LTA reviews rates every quarter and also adjusts them during the June and December school holidays.
The current official schedule took effect on 7 September 2026. Check LTA’s live rate service before relying on any journey estimate because the figures can change.
ERP monthly cost formula
Monthly ERP = (inbound route charge + outbound route charge) × charged commute days + other charged trips.
- Use LTA’s current rate table for your vehicle and exact passing time.
- Add every priced charging point crossed in one direction.
- Repeat for the return journey.
- Multiply the round-trip total by your actual office or school-run days.
- Add irregular charged trips separately.
Worked ERP calculator examples
These figures illustrate the calculation. They are not current prices for a named route.
| Example | Route charges | Days or trips | Monthly estimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hybrid commute | $2 inbound + $1 outbound | 12 days | ($2 + $1) × 12 = $36 |
| Five-day commute | $3 inbound + $2 outbound | 22 days | ($3 + $2) × 22 = $110 |
| Commute plus meetings | $5 round trip; four extra $3 trips | 22 commute days | ($5 × 22) + ($3 × 4) = $122 |
For an annual planning number, multiply a stable monthly estimate by 12, then keep a buffer for rate changes and weeks with more charged travel.
Why the exact time matters
LTA generally sets rates in half-hour bands. A published interval such as 7.30am–8.00am includes 7.30am and runs up to, but not including, 8.00am. The next time band can carry a different charge.
Two people using the same road can therefore pay different amounts because they pass a charging point at different times. Estimate the time at each charging point, rather than using only the time you leave home.
ERP cost worksheet
| Journey component | Your input | How to calculate |
|---|---|---|
| Inbound trip | $____ | Add all current charges on the inbound route |
| Outbound trip | $____ | Add all current charges on the return route |
| Charged commute days | ____ days | Use actual monthly office or school-run days |
| Extra charged trips | $____ | Add meetings, errands and weekend journeys |
| Monthly ERP | $____ | (Inbound + outbound) × days + extras |
When ERP is not charged
LTA states that there are no ERP charges on Sundays and public holidays. ERP stops at 1pm on the eve of New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and Christmas Day.
A route may also have no charge outside its operational window. Check the current schedule rather than assuming every gantry operates all day.
ERP 2.0 and the OBU transition
ERP 2.0 uses an On-Board Unit (OBU) as Singapore moves away from the older In-Vehicle Unit. LTA began the installation exercise in November 2023. Eligible Singapore-registered vehicles registered before 1 May 2024 can install the OBU free during the transition, subject to LTA’s rules.
The transition does not make route budgeting unnecessary. Use the current LTA charging information displayed through the OBU or official services and keep your payment method active.
How to pay and avoid a missed-payment fee
An IU can deduct from a compatible stored-value card. LTA also lists account-based services, including AXS Drive, EZ-Link Motoring Service and NETS vCashCard. Auto top-up or backend payment reduces the risk of an expired or low-balance card.
If a payment is missed, LTA sends an SMS and gives a five-day grace period from the SMS date. Paying within that period avoids the $10 administrative charge. If the payment remains outstanding, LTA sends a physical notice and the ERP charge plus a $10 administrative charge becomes payable.
Driving a Singapore-registered vehicle through an operating charging point without an IU or OBU can attract a $70 penalty for each charging point.
How ERP fits into total car cost
ERP is usually smaller than depreciation, financing or insurance. It still matters because it repeats with the same commute. A $110 monthly route costs $1,320 a year and $6,600 over five years if the pattern and rates remain unchanged.
Add ERP to fuel, parking and the rest of the monthly car-ownership budget. When comparing a car with ride-hailing, apply the relevant ERP cost to both routes rather than omitting it from one side.
Four-week route audit
- Record each charged journey and the actual amount.
- Separate regular commutes from optional trips.
- Calculate the four-week total and divide by the number of commute days.
- Compare one earlier, later or alternative route where practical.
- Use the observed total as the next month’s budget baseline.
